Any exertion burns more calories than just sitting. How many calories you burn per minute or per hour depends on the intensity of the activity. The more intense, the more you burn per minute. But also, the more intense, the less likely that you will be able to do it for very long.
Yoga can be mild, moderate or vigorous. The more vigorous, the more calories you will burn.
But keep this in mind, it is great for your body no matter how many calories you burn.
And as you become more fit, you will be able to sustain greater intensity for a longer period and burn even more calories.

i don’t know much.
but i personally bought a cd from Ram Dev for weight loss & i tried those simple assans (postures) & u will not believe me i lost 8 kg’s within 5 months.
ya i am serious.so u can say that yoga also burns calories but according me yoga has a slower effect as compared to other exercises ..
there is hardly any sweat while doing yoga & u r mentally, physically & emotionally balanced.
i used to do yoga at early morning without breakfast may be that helped me in reducing weight..
