channille asked:

I would really like to try some pilates as I have pretty bad posture, and as I already do kickboxing and weights alot during the week and have not much time for anything else was wondering If I can do pilates from a DVD at home? is it easy to follow of a dvd? or do you think I should do a few classes to get the basics down pat?

If, you really want to get into then I would recommend taking at least a few classes to make sure your doing it right. Then you can move to a dvd, they are usually very good. Make sure that you get the easiest and move up to the next level when the easy isn’t a challenge anymore. They also have free videos on demand/on command if you have that. It’s annoying at first but then you will learn to love it. Good luck!

I would recommend taking a few classes first so your teacher can help instruct you on correct positioning and body alignment. Then when you know and understand how the exercises work and which muscle groups are to be used and supported, etc. Then you can take over at home with DVD’s.

It is a great thing to do if your main fitness routine is muscle building (like kickboxing and weights). It will help to stretch your muscles so you don’t bulk up, while strengthening your core.

    Have Fun!
